Ownership, governance, and internationalization in family firms: a replication and extension

Abstract In one of the most influential studies on family firm internationalization, Sciascia et al. (2012) advance a curvilinear relationship between ownership and internationalization. We replicate their study adopting three-step approach. First, we use same measures different sample to test generalizability findings. Second, change independent variable hypothesize negative involvement in board directors Third, introduce measure moderating role age size this relationship. Our advances internationalization literature both theoretically methodologically. Theoretically, show that it is not so much per se, but influence obtains through directorship affects strategy. addition, effect moderated by size. Methodologically, our an important step forward toward increasingly transparent replicable business research.
